ABPS is converting its written examinations to computer-based testing (CBT). This type of testing will permit you to select a test center fairly close to your work or home location. These will be held in centers located throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. The actual test dates have not yet been established.

The fee for CBT examinations will be $350 more than the current fees for the paper-and-pencil examination (see schedule of recertification fees). The additional cost should be more than offset by the savings in reduced travel costs, travel time, hotel expenses, and time off from work.

The current plans are for the Recertification examination to be administered as a paper-pencil examination for the last time on September 25, 2008 in Tampa, Florida.
